ESTRADA "C-7" MODULAR DENIM COAT
A modular formal-casual garment developed through the translation of automotive precision, Diesel-inspired construction, and UK drill visual codes into a tailored context.
Part of an academic exploration focused on merging structured tailoring with street-driven aesthetics, this piece challenges traditional formalwear by introducing adaptability as a core design function.
The coat features a vertically segmented composition, where bold red panels interrupt the black base structure—referencing speed, mechanical alignment, and visual control. The silhouette maintains a tailored foundation while expanding through layered, voluminous sleeves that distort and redefine proportion.
Designed with a detachable construction, the garment allows transformation between configurations, enabling shifts in silhouette, volume, and visual impact. This modularity reinforces the idea of clothing as an active system rather than a fixed form.
Developed through pattern experimentation and iterative prototyping, the piece explores the balance between rigidity and flexibility, structure and disruption.
A study in controlled transformation—where formalwear becomes adaptable, responsive, and culturally recontextualized.
